Design, scale and maintain automation frameworks for Actian's data platform and SaaS architecture.
Integrate automated test suites into the CI/CD pipeline to speed up feedback.
Lead deeper testing beyond UI, including integration, API, performance, resilience and data integrity.
Serve as the technical authority for the automation team, setting code standards and reviewing code.
Coach junior automation engineers and help functional testers move toward automation.
Allocate engineering capacity across feature testing, framework work and technical debt.
Own final quality sign-off for releases, with authority to halt deployments.
Work with Product, Core Engineering and DevOps to plan test strategies before code is written.
Partner with Sustaining Engineering to reproduce production bugs with automated tests.
Track down and eliminate flaky tests.
Track and report QA metrics such as coverage, pass rates, execution time and defect leakage.
Adopt AI tools to generate tests, optimise suites and predict defect hot spots.

Background as a Senior SDET or QA Automation Lead, ideally testing enterprise SaaS, distributed systems or data platforms.
Strong coding skills in Java, Python or Go and experience with modern test frameworks.
Mandatory expertise in SQL and API testing.
Proactive ownership, anticipating regressions and pushing for built-in quality.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, a major cloud provider and GitHub workflows.
Familiarity with using AI tools to write tests, create mock data and analyse failures.
Excellent English communication, including the ability to defend quality metrics while staying collaborative.
