Create, maintain and improve software and other documentation.
Help team members make effective documentation contributions.
Influence product design as an expert user.
Engage user communities to meet their documentation needs.
Encourage community contribution to documentation.
Help standardise structure, style and language across products.
Collaborate with documentation peers and challenge documentation best practice.

Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Cares deeply about clear written communication.
Either a technical writer with a programmer's mindset, or a programmer with a record of excellent documentation.
Record of community engagement in open source, documentation, research or similar.
Sympathy for the needs of open-source software and its communities.
Technical curiosity and interest in software challenges.
Demonstrable documentation skills and enthusiasm.
Experience in software development contexts.
Familiarity with Linux, the command line, Git, Sphinx and reStructuredText.
BSc/BA or equivalent.
Ability to travel twice a year for up to two weeks.
Nice to have: deep technical domain knowledge.
Nice to have: open-source community leadership and management.
Nice to have: user-experience, interaction or visual design.
